SKYROS ISLAND – bones

Metamorphosis Bones and Colour 2011-2014

In 2010 I moved my studio from the London metropolis to the Greek Island of Skyros in the archipelago of Sporades.

To this day its a beautiful, unspoiled island, off the beaten track. Mentioned by Homer in the “Iliad” and steeped in mythology its a home to the endemic Skyrian horse and around 60.000 goats.

Naturally, I encountered many animal bones during my hikes which were essential not only to my new lifestyle but also to my creative process. That being so, the incorporation of bones into my creative process only reflected my profound connection with the local traditions and landscapes (τόπος, topos).

Most of the artworks from this period are in private collections in Europe.
